eir posts higher 2025 revenue as fibre, mobile grow

Wed, 11th Mar 2026

eir reported higher revenue and earnings for 2025, helped by growth in mobile customers and fibre broadband connections as operating costs fell.

Full-year revenue rose 2% year on year to €1.35 billion. EBITDA increased 4% to €640 million. Operating costs fell 2% to €410 million. Cash on the balance sheet stood at €154 million.

Performance strengthened in the final quarter. Fourth-quarter revenue was €392 million, up 5% year on year. Quarterly EBITDA rose 10% to €198 million. Operating costs were €104 million, flat on the same period a year earlier.

The results were in line with expectations, with the company pointing to continued expansion of its customer base during the year.

Fibre footprint

The fixed network continued to shift towards fibre. eir ended 2025 with 894,000 fibre broadband connections, up 1% or 8,000 year on year. Fibre accounted for 95% of its total broadband base at the end of the period.

eir's fibre-to-the-home network was approaching 1.5 million premises across Ireland, a 9% increase, or 129,000 premises, over the year. A total of 2.2 million premises could access its combined fibre-to-the-home and fibre-to-the-cabinet networks, equivalent to 98% of premises in Ireland.

In its fourth-quarter trading update, eir said 40% of premises passed with its fibre broadband were taking a fibre service. It also reported 114,000 eir TV customers, up 1% or 1,000 year on year.

Mobile mix

Mobile customer numbers increased over the year, with a greater share on postpay plans. Total mobile customers rose 5% to 1.581 million, up 72,000 year on year. Postpay mobile customers increased by 91,000 to 1.294 million, an 8% rise.

Postpay made up 82% of the mobile base, up 2 percentage points year on year. eir reiterated its market positioning, saying it remained Ireland's number one fibre provider and continued to lead in broadband and mobile postpay services.

Bundling trend

Multi-product household bundles, combining services such as broadband, mobile, voice and TV, continued to rise. Multi-play bundling accounted for 60% of eir fixed households, up 4 percentage points year on year. A separate measure showed 94% of fixed consumer households were on bundles with two or more products, up 2%.

eir linked the shift to changing customer demand and a broader push on product packaging across its fixed and mobile lines.

Costs and investment

In the fourth quarter, non-pay costs increased by €1 million year on year, while pay costs fell by €1 million, or 2%. The company highlighted its continued focus on cost control during the year alongside network expansion.

eir said it has been rolling out fibre-to-the-home and 5G as part of a €2 billion capital investment programme, and that its 5G network now reaches 99% of the population.

"eir delivered another strong and consistent operational performance during 2025, delivering both top and bottom-line growth. The performance reflects our strategy of sustained network investment and customer focus, which continues to yield results in the growth of both our mobile and fibre broadband bases. With 1.58 million mobile customers - an increase of 72,000 year-on-year - and fibre-to-the-home available to nearly 1.5 million premises, we are consolidating our position as Ireland's leading connectivity provider," said Oliver Loomes, Chief Executive Officer of eir.

"Combined with our focus on cost control, this resulted in topline revenue and EBITDA growth of 2% and 4% respectively year-on-year," he added.

Stephen Tighe, Chief Financial Officer of eir, highlighted continued customer growth and steady commercial momentum across the group's broadband and mobile services.

"Our performance in the fourth quarter of 2025 was in line with expectations. We saw growth across the eir fibre broadband base and in total mobile customers, with a further increase seen in the multi-play bundling of eir fixed households. Our solid commercial momentum is now delivering organic revenue growth on a consistent basis," Tighe said.

"With eir's fibre network now available to almost 1.5 million homes and businesses, and our next-generation 5G network reaching 99% of the population to deliver high-speed, low-latency connectivity across nearly every corner of Ireland, this large-scale investment positions us to grow our customer base by offering high-quality, high-value products over the coming years," he added.
